Vacation

The hubby and I went to a wedding last weekend. It was in Norfork, AR (northern AR) and quite a drive so we decided to make a vacation out of the trip and rented a cabin in a nearby town.

We stayed at the Whispering Woods Cabins in Jordan, AR. They were quite reasonable at $79 for a Lake View cabin. They are not right on the lake, up high on a mountain, but the view of the lake is nice. If you don't care about the view the studio cabins are $72.
The cabins include a kitchen area and are stocked with pots and pans. There is a restaurant on site but it is only open for dinner. We tried out the stuffed (giant!) shrimp and crab quiche the first night.

If you prefer to eat in there are some small grocery stores nearby. We decided to drive to Mountain Home to purchase some items for dinner. Surprisingly enough, the main grocery had several gourmet items and even an organic foods section. One thing the store did not have is beer or wine so if you are planning on getting some try a liquor store or gas station.
